有时从句被包含在主句中间，这时只能依靠谓语动词来判断从句的结束。从句从连接词开始往后数，结束在第二个谓语动词之前。因为从句也是一个句子，所以只能包含一个谓语动词，因此不能包含第二个谓语动词。注意非谓语动词不算，忽略即可。

例：The common idea that high CEO pay is mainly about ripping people off doesn’t explain history very well. 翻译：首席执行官高薪主要是要挖人的普遍想法并不能很好地解释历史。

想判断名词性从句的种类，只要确定名词性从句的位置就可以了——先找到从句，然后“往前看”，根据它前面的词来判断名词性从句的种类（详见名词性从句内容小结位置图）。例如上面的两个例句：第一个例句，从句位于系动词is后，是表语从句。第二个例句，从句位于抽象名词idea后，解释说明该抽象名词，是同位语从句。

为了保证同学们的知识体系是完整的，所以之前给大家讲解了限定性定语从句和同位语从句的区别。但是这部分内容大家了解即可，在考研真题中遇到时不要纠结，不要浪费时间去特意分辨。因为这两种从句说到底都是对于先行词（名词）的一种修饰和补充，所以只要能够找到从句，并且能判断它是修饰和补充哪个名词即可。

【攻略-2】找到定语从句的先行词，更准确看懂句意

在考研真题中，首先要通过关系词找到定语从句；然后“往前看”再去找到它所修饰的先行词，尤其要注意真题中经常会出现先行词和定语从句被分开的情况（中间夹杂了其他的补充修饰成分）。如下：

例：This was also found in high-functioning men with some autistic spectrum symptoms, who may tend to avoid eye contact.

此句中，根据关系词who 就可以迅速地找到定语从句who may tend to avoid eye contact。然后“往前看”找先行词，马上就看到了紧挨着who 的名词symptoms，但是很明显这个词并不是先行词。因为who 修饰的先行词一定得是人，而symptoms（症状，征兆）显然不符合。再继续往前看，发现了名词men，再代入到从句中，变为 men may tend to avoid eye contact（人们可能往往会避免目光接触），意思合适，则可以确定先行词为men。

翻译：在患有某些自闭症症状的高功能人群中也可能出现这种现象，他们可能往往会避免目光接触。

例：...you can say something to your child that you may regret for a long time.

此句中，根据关系词that 就可以迅速地找到定语从句that you may regret for a long time。然后“往前看”找先行词，马上就看到了紧挨着that 的名词child，但是很明显这个词并不是先行词。因为“先行词=关系词”，所以把先行词child 代入到从句中替换关系词that，变为you may regret child for a long time（你可能会后悔孩子很长时间），意思不合适，所以要继续寻找先行词。再继续往前看，发现了不定代词something（定语从句除了修饰名词，也可以修饰代词），再代入到从句中，变为you may regret something for a long time（你可能会后悔某事很长时间），意思合适，则可以确定先行词为something。

翻译：......你会对孩子说一些你可能会后悔很长时间的事情。

综上所述，同学们会发现，必须要准确地找到定语从句的先行词，才能正确理解句子意思，尤其注意这种先行词和定语从句被分开的情况。其实，想找到先行词也不难，就是“往前看”找名词，再“代入从句”判断意思是否合适。

2019 年考研真题的完形填空第19 题，考查的就是状语从句的从属连词。根据上下文判断是因果关系，所以正确答案是选项B，because 引出原因状语从句。

翻译：在实现特定健身目标方面，我也取得了更大的成功，因为我是根据这些目标而不是按磅秤（体重计）的数值进行训练的。

考研真题中的句子普遍比较长，因此在考场中想节省时间，就要首先学会理清句子间的逻辑关系。遇到状语从句时，只要抓住从属连词，就能立刻判断出句子大概描述哪方面的信息。如下：

例：When we travel down a well-known route, because we don’t have to concentrate much, time seems to flow more quickly.

看到从属连词When 和because，立刻就能判断出它们分别引出时间状语从句和原因状语从句，那么先不用仔细看细节，也可以推断出这个句子的大概结构：“时间+原因+主句”，表示“当......时候，因为......，主句......”。这样可以极大地帮助大家节省时间，迅速理清句子大意。
